・Cadmium Free Quantum Dots (CFQD(TM)) |
![]() |

Quantum
particles have been the focus of much attention as next generation optical nanomaterials.
Based on expertise in the field of nanotechnology (nanomaterials), Nanoco Ltd.
was established in 2001 as a spin-out from the University of Manchester in the
UK. Besides producing cadmium-based quantum dots, which have been the subject
of research for some time, Nanoco has developed processes to realize and produce
quantum dots free from heavy metals such as cadmium in quantities large enough
for industrial applications.
At present, Nanoco is cooperating with companies in Japan and elsewhere to develop a variety of applications for quantum dots, particularly in the fields of next generation lighting (LEDs and ELs), displays (QD-EL), solar cells and biomedical imaging.
